With her background as principal flautist of Sándor Vegh’s Camerata Academica Salzburg, this is repertoire with which Bezaly feels a great sympathy – something which is obvious to the listener from the first moment. To many, the Mozartian way of using the flute is the essence of how the instrument should sound: limpid, clear and, at turns, playful and poetic. For this recording, Finnish composer Kalevi Aho, who recently composed a concerto for Bezaly, was commissioned to write the cadenzas – caleidoscopic and glittering mirrors of Mozart’s works. The disc, on which Bezaly is accompanied by the ever-alert Ostrobothnian Chamber Orchestra under its artistic director Juha Kangas, includes all of Mozart’s works for flute and orchestra, that is: the two concertos as well as the Andante, K315, and Rondo, KAnh184.
